Natal Transit Daily

Returns the current day's transiting planetary aspects to an individual's natal chart — the foundational daily transit snapshot in the Western transits endpoint suite. Transits are the real-time positions of the planets in the sky measured against the fixed planetary positions in an individual's natal chart, and the aspects they form are the primary tool in Western astrology for timing events, identifying periods of opportunity or challenge, and understanding the current planetary influences acting on a person's life. This endpoint computes all qualifying transit-to-natal aspects active on the current day and returns them as a structured dataset ready for daily forecast generation, personal astrology apps, and practitioner daily briefing tools.

What This API Does

This endpoint accepts an individual's natal birth details and an aspectsType filter, then calculates the positions of all transiting planets for the current day and identifies every qualifying aspect those transiting planets form to the individual's natal planetary positions. The transit date is implicitly the current calendar day — no separate date parameter is required. The endpoint evaluates each transiting planet against each natal planet and angle, applies standard Western orb tolerances for each aspect type, and returns the full list of active transit-to-natal aspects along with their orb, applying/separating status, and aspect nature. The aspectsType parameter controls whether all aspects (major and minor) or only the five classical major aspects are included in the response.

Data Returned

The response provides a complete daily transit-to-natal aspect dataset:

• Transit-to-natal aspects — all qualifying aspects formed between each transiting planet's current position and each of the individual's natal planetary positions, representing the active planetary influences on the natal chart for the current day

• Transiting planet — the planet currently moving through the sky that is forming the aspect, along with its current tropical sign, degree, and retrograde status

• Natal planet — the natal chart planet or angle being aspected by the transiting planet, identifying which natal chart point and its associated life themes are being activated

• Aspect type — the name and symbol of each transit-to-natal aspect (conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition, and minor aspects when aspectsType is all)

• Orb — the exact degree of separation between the transiting planet and the precise aspect angle to the natal planet, indicating how tightly the transit is formed and how strongly it is considered to be in effect

• Applying or separating status — whether each transit aspect is applying (the transiting planet is moving toward exact aspect with the natal planet) or separating (it has passed the exact angle and is moving away), a critical interpretive distinction since applying transits are considered to be building in influence while separating transits are waning

• Aspect nature — whether each transit-to-natal aspect is considered harmonious, challenging, or neutral in Western astrological interpretation

• Transiting planet retrograde status — whether the transiting planet is retrograde on the current day, which affects the interpretation of the transit's expression and timing

• Current day transit positions — the tropical sign and degree of all transiting planets for the current day, providing the positional context for all aspect calculations
