Rasi Gunak
Computes the Rasi Gunak (sign multiplier) values for a person's Vedic birth chart — a classical Ashtakavarga technique that derives a weighted multiplier for each of the twelve signs by combining the fully reduced Ashtakavarga scores with the number of planets transiting or placed in each sign, producing a composite strength index used for sign-level predictive analysis.
What this API does
Rasi Gunak is a further analytical layer built on top of the fully reduced Sarvashtakavarga (after both Trikon Shodhan and Ekadhipatya Shodhan have been applied). In classical Vedic Ashtakavarga methodology, the Rasi Gunak for a sign is obtained by multiplying the reduced Sarvashtakavarga score of that sign's house by the number of planets currently occupying or transiting through that sign. This product yields a composite index that reflects not just the inherent strength of the house, but also how much of that strength is being activated by planetary presence.
Signs with a high Rasi Gunak are considered especially potent during the relevant period — they concentrate both structural strength (from the Ashtakavarga) and active planetary energy (from occupancy). Signs with a low Rasi Gunak, even if their raw Ashtakavarga score is moderate, indicate reduced activation and weaker outcomes for the life domains governed by those signs and houses.
This endpoint computes the full birth chart from the provided date, time, and geographic coordinates, applies the complete Ashtakavarga reduction pipeline (Trikon Shodhan followed by Ekadhipatya Shodhan), and then calculates the Rasi Gunak for each of the twelve signs. The result is a sign-wise composite strength index ready for use in transit analysis, muhurta selection, and period-based predictions.
What data it returns
The API returns a structured JSON response including:
- Rasi Gunak values: The composite multiplier score for each of the twelve signs, derived from the product of the fully reduced Sarvashtakavarga house score and the number of planets in that sign
- Reduced Sarvashtakavarga scores: The underlying fully reduced house-wise bindu totals (post Trikon and Ekadhipatya Shodhan) used as the base for the Rasi Gunak calculation
- Planetary occupancy per sign: The count and identity of planets currently placed in each sign, showing which signs are activated by planetary presence
- Sign strength ranking: A ranked ordering of the twelve signs by their Rasi Gunak values, identifying the strongest and weakest signs in the chart at the time of birth or analysis
- Contextual interpretation: Textual descriptions of the significance of each sign's Rasi Gunak value, explaining the implications for the life domains associated with that sign and house
Main use cases
- Transit and Gochara analysis where the Rasi Gunak is used to identify which signs are most powerfully activated during a given period, helping practitioners assess the quality and intensity of planetary transits through each sign
- Muhurta (auspicious timing) selection that uses Rasi Gunak values to identify signs and houses with the highest composite strength for initiating important activities, ensuring alignment with the most activated and auspicious areas of the chart
- Dasha and antardasha period analysis where the Rasi Gunak of the signs occupied by dasha lords is used to refine predictions about the intensity and quality of planetary periods
- Comprehensive horoscope report generation that includes the Rasi Gunak table as an advanced Ashtakavarga component, providing clients with a nuanced, activation-weighted view of their chart's sign-level strengths
- Predictive astrology platforms that use Rasi Gunak values to generate period-specific forecasts, identifying windows of heightened activity and strength for each area of life
- Research and educational astrology platforms that teach or study the advanced layers of the Ashtakavarga system, using this endpoint to demonstrate how planetary occupancy modulates the underlying house strength scores
Key functionality
- Full Ashtakavarga pipeline in a single request: Computes the raw Bhinnashtakavarga, applies Trikon Shodhan, applies Ekadhipatya Shodhan, and then calculates the Rasi Gunak — the entire classical reduction and multiplication pipeline — in one API call.
- Activation-weighted strength index: Combines structural house strength (from the fully reduced Sarvashtakavarga) with dynamic planetary occupancy to produce a composite index that reflects both inherent and activated sign strength, going beyond what raw or reduced Ashtakavarga scores alone can show.
- Sign-level granularity: Delivers results at the sign (Rasi) level, making the output directly applicable to sign-based transit analysis, Gochara predictions, and muhurta work.
- Sign strength ranking: Provides a ranked ordering of all twelve signs by Rasi Gunak value, enabling quick identification of the most and least activated areas of the chart.
- Planetary occupancy breakdown: Returns the count and identity of planets in each sign, giving full transparency into the occupancy component of the Rasi Gunak calculation.
- Precise birth data input: Accepts day, month, year, hour, minute, second, and timezone offset to compute the exact planetary positions at the moment of birth.
- Geographic coordinates: Uses latitude and longitude to accurately determine house cusps and planetary placements relative to the birth location.
- Ayanamsha support: The
X-Ayanamsha header allows selection of the sidereal calculation system (e.g., Lahiri, Raman, KP), ensuring the chart and all Ashtakavarga computations are performed according to the practitioner's preferred Vedic tradition.
- Multilingual support: The
Accept-Language header enables localized descriptions and interpretations, making the API suitable for a global, multilingual user base.
