Shodya Pinda
Computes the Shodya Pinda for each of the seven classical planets in a person's Vedic birth chart — the final and most refined planetary strength score in the Ashtakavarga system, derived by combining the Graha Gunak (planet multiplier) and Rasi Gunak (sign multiplier) into a single authoritative index that represents the net, fully weighted Ashtakavarga strength of each planet.
What this API does
Shodya Pinda is the culminating calculation of the classical Ashtakavarga methodology. After the raw Bhinnashtakavarga scores have been computed, refined through Trikon Shodhan and Ekadhipatya Shodhan, and then weighted through the Graha Gunak and Rasi Gunak multipliers, the Shodya Pinda synthesizes these layers into a single final score per planet.
In classical Vedic texts, the Shodya Pinda is computed by taking the Graha Gunak of a planet (the product of the planet's own reduced bindu score in its natal house and the fully reduced Sarvashtakavarga score of that house) and further refining it using the Rasi Gunak of the sign the planet occupies (the product of the reduced Sarvashtakavarga score of that sign and the number of planets in it). The resulting Shodya Pinda represents the most complete and nuanced measure of a planet's Ashtakavarga-backed strength — accounting for its own bindu contribution, the aggregate house strength, and the activation level of the sign it inhabits.
A planet with a high Shodya Pinda is considered exceptionally well-supported by the Ashtakavarga framework and is expected to deliver strong, positive results during its dasha periods and transits. A planet with a low Shodya Pinda is considered weakly positioned in the Ashtakavarga sense, regardless of other chart factors, and may underdeliver during its periods.
This endpoint computes the full birth chart from the provided date, time, and geographic coordinates, executes the entire Ashtakavarga pipeline — raw computation, Trikon Shodhan, Ekadhipatya Shodhan, Graha Gunak, Rasi Gunak — and delivers the final Shodya Pinda for each planet in a single response.
What data it returns
The API returns a structured JSON response including:
- Shodya Pinda values: The final composite Ashtakavarga strength score for each of the seven classical planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn), representing the most refined and authoritative planetary strength index in the Ashtakavarga system
- Graha Gunak components: The planet multiplier values used as input to the Shodya Pinda calculation, showing the planet-level weighted scores
- Rasi Gunak components: The sign multiplier values for the signs occupied by each planet, showing the sign-level activation scores used in the calculation
- Planet strength ranking: A ranked ordering of the seven planets by their Shodya Pinda values, identifying the strongest and weakest planets in the chart from the most complete Ashtakavarga perspective
- Contextual interpretation: Textual descriptions of the significance of each planet's Shodya Pinda value, explaining the implications for dasha quality, transit performance, and the life domains governed by that planet
Main use cases
- Definitive planetary strength assessment for astrology consultation platforms, where the Shodya Pinda serves as the single most authoritative Ashtakavarga-based measure of each planet's strength, used to advise clients on which planetary energies are most and least potent in their chart
- Dasha and antardasha quality prediction where the Shodya Pinda of the dasha lord is the primary Ashtakavarga indicator of the overall strength, beneficence, and likely outcomes of a planetary period — the higher the Shodya Pinda, the more powerfully and positively the dasha is expected to manifest
- Transit strength evaluation where the Shodya Pinda of transiting planets is used to assess how powerfully each planet will express itself as it moves through the chart, providing the most complete Ashtakavarga-based transit quality rating
- Comprehensive horoscope report generation that presents the Shodya Pinda as the headline planetary strength metric in a full Vedic birth chart analysis, giving clients a clear, single-number summary of each planet's Ashtakavarga standing
- Yoga and combination analysis where Shodya Pinda values are used to determine whether the planets involved in significant yogas or combinations have the Ashtakavarga backing to manifest those yogas strongly in the native's life
- Comparative chart analysis in compatibility assessments, where the Shodya Pinda scores of key planets in two charts are compared to evaluate the relative strength and compatibility of planetary energies between individuals
- Advanced predictive astrology platforms that use Shodya Pinda as the final, integrated planetary strength score in multi-factor prediction models combining Ashtakavarga, Shadbala, and other classical strength systems
Key functionality
- Complete Ashtakavarga pipeline in a single request: Executes the full classical sequence — raw Bhinnashtakavarga computation, Trikon Shodhan, Ekadhipatya Shodhan, Graha Gunak, Rasi Gunak, and final Shodya Pinda synthesis — in one API call, delivering the most refined Ashtakavarga strength scores without requiring multiple intermediate requests.
- Most refined planetary strength index: The Shodya Pinda is the final output of the entire Ashtakavarga reduction and weighting methodology, representing the highest level of refinement available within the classical system and the most reliable single-number indicator of planetary Ashtakavarga strength.
- Multi-layer transparency: Returns the Graha Gunak and Rasi Gunak components alongside the final Shodya Pinda values, giving practitioners and developers full visibility into how each planet's final score was derived from its underlying components.
- Planet strength ranking: Delivers a ranked ordering of all seven classical planets by Shodya Pinda value, enabling immediate identification of the chart's strongest and weakest planets from the most complete Ashtakavarga perspective.
- Direct dasha applicability: The Shodya Pinda is specifically designed for dasha quality assessment — the ranked output maps directly onto the sequence of planetary periods in the native's life, making it immediately actionable for period-based prediction.
- Precise birth data input: Accepts day, month, year, hour, minute, second, and timezone offset to compute the exact planetary positions at the moment of birth.
- Geographic coordinates: Uses latitude and longitude to accurately determine house cusps and planetary placements relative to the birth location.
- Ayanamsha support: The
X-Ayanamsha header allows selection of the sidereal calculation system (e.g., Lahiri, Raman, KP), ensuring the chart and all Ashtakavarga computations are performed according to the practitioner's preferred Vedic tradition.
- Multilingual support: The
Accept-Language header enables localized descriptions and interpretations, making the API suitable for a global, multilingual user base.
