Panchang Chart Extended API

The Panchang Chart Extended API provides Panchang related calculations and insights based on Vedic Astrology principles. This endpoint is designed for astrology applications, report generation systems, horoscope platforms, and developer integrations requiring structured JSON responses and reliable REST API access.

Panchang Chart Extended

The Panchang Chart Extended API provides a comprehensive and detailed computation of the Hindu Panchang (traditional Vedic almanac) for a given date, time, and geographic location. It goes beyond the standard Panchang by delivering an enriched set of astrological and astronomical data points used in Vedic astrology and Hindu religious practices.

What This API Does

This endpoint calculates an extended Panchang chart by taking a precise moment in time (date, time, and timezone) along with geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude). It applies the specified Ayanamsha system to perform sidereal astronomical calculations and returns a rich set of Vedic astrological data for that moment and place.

What Data It Returns

The extended Panchang response includes a broad range of Vedic astrological elements, typically covering:

  • Tithi — Lunar day, its name, deity, and completion percentage

  • Nakshatra — The lunar mansion (star constellation) the Moon occupies, along with its pada (quarter), lord, and remaining duration

  • Yoga — The auspiciousness index derived from the combined longitudes of the Sun and Moon

  • Karana — The half-lunar-day element, its type, and ruling deity

  • Vara — The weekday and its planetary ruler

  • Sunrise & Sunset — Precise local sunrise and sunset times

  • Moonrise & Moonset — Precise local moonrise and moonset times

  • Rahu Kalam, Gulika Kalam, Yamaganda — Inauspicious time periods of the day

  • Abhijit Muhurta — The most auspicious time window of the day

  • Chandra Rashi — The zodiac sign occupied by the Moon

  • Surya Rashi — The zodiac sign occupied by the Sun

  • Auspicious & Inauspicious Timings — Extended muhurta details for planning activities

  • Planetary Positions — Positions of key planets as computed under the selected Ayanamsha

Main Use Cases

  • Religious & Ritual Planning — Determining auspicious timings (muhurtas) for ceremonies such as weddings, griha pravesh (housewarming), naming ceremonies, and other Hindu rituals

  • Vedic Astrology Applications — Powering astrology platforms and horoscope apps that need detailed daily Panchang data for chart analysis and predictions

  • Festival & Calendar Applications — Building Hindu religious calendars that display daily Panchang details for any location worldwide

  • Muhurta Selection Tools — Helping users identify the best time windows for starting new ventures, travel, or important life events

  • Spiritual & Devotional Apps — Providing daily Panchang information to users for prayer, fasting, and observance scheduling

Key Functionality

  • Location-Aware Calculations — All timings (sunrise, sunset, moonrise, Rahu Kalam, etc.) are computed specifically for the provided latitude and longitude, ensuring geographic accuracy

  • Timezone Support — Accepts a timezone offset (tzone) so results are returned in local time for the queried location

  • Ayanamsha Flexibility — Supports multiple Ayanamsha systems (e.g., Lahiri, Raman, KP) via the X-Ayanamsha header, allowing the API to serve different schools of Vedic astrology

  • Multi-Language Support — The Accept-Language header enables responses in multiple languages, making the API suitable for regional and international audiences

  • Extended Detail Level — Compared to a standard Panchang endpoint, this extended variant returns additional astrological layers such as detailed muhurta breakdowns, planetary data, and expanded timing windows
