Major Char Dasha

The Major Char Dasha API calculates the sequence and timing of Major Char Dasha periods for a person based on their Vedic birth chart. Char Dasha is a sign-based dasha system from Jaimini astrology, where the twelve zodiac signs — rather than planets or nakshatras — serve as the dasha lords. The major dasha represents the outermost, longest time period in this system, providing a high-level map of the dominant zodiac sign influencing a person's life at any given time.

What This API Does

This endpoint computes the complete sequence of Major Char Dasha periods for a person, derived from their birth date, time, timezone, and geographic coordinates. Using Jaimini's sign-based methodology, it calculates the start and end dates of each major dasha sign period across the person's lifespan, and identifies which major dasha is currently active. This forms the foundational layer of Char Dasha analysis, upon which sub-dashas and further subdivisions are built.

The Ayanamsha system is configurable via the X-Ayanamsha header, and multi-language support is available through the Accept-Language header.

What Data It Returns

The response provides a complete Major Char Dasha timeline, which may include:

• Ordered list of major dasha periods, each governed by a zodiac sign
• Start date and end date of each major dasha period
• Duration of each major dasha in years, months, and days
• Currently active major dasha sign, with elapsed and remaining time
