The Lal Kitab Planets API computes and returns the planetary positions for a given birth date, time, and geographic location according to the Lal Kitab system — a distinct branch of Vedic astrology rooted in ancient Persian and Hindu traditions. Unlike classical Jyotish, Lal Kitab uses a fixed-sign house system and its own set of interpretive rules, making the planetary placement data it produces unique to this tradition.

What This API Does

Given a person's birth details (date, time, and coordinates), this endpoint calculates where each of the nine Vedic planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu) falls within the twelve houses of the Lal Kitab chart. It also renders a visual chart image of the planetary layout, with full control over the chart's appearance.

What Data It Returns

The response includes:

• Planetary house positions — the house number each planet occupies in the Lal Kitab chart
• Sign placements — the zodiac sign each planet is placed in, expressed either as a symbol or a number depending on configuration
• Planet labels — rendered as either symbolic glyphs or full planet names based on the request configuration
• A rendered chart image — a visual representation of the Lal Kitab birth chart, customisable in style (North Indian, South Indian, or East Indian), size, colours, line weights, and font sizes

The Ayanamsha (sidereal zodiac correction method) used for the calculation is specified via a request header, allowing the same birth data to be interpreted under different ayanamsha systems (e.g. Lahiri, Raman, KP).
