Basic Panchang API

The Basic Panchang API provides Panchang related calculations and insights based on Vedic Astrology principles. This endpoint is designed for astrology applications, report generation systems, horoscope platforms, and developer integrations requiring structured JSON responses and reliable REST API access.

The Basic Panchang API computes the fundamental Panchang (Hindu almanac) details for a given date, time, and geographic location. Panchang is a traditional Vedic timekeeping system that describes the five key elements of a day according to Hindu astrology and is widely used for determining auspicious timings, planning religious ceremonies, and understanding the cosmic quality of any given moment.

What This API Does

This API calculates the five core Panchang elements — Tithi (lunar day), Vara (weekday), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (luni-solar combination), and Karana (half lunar day) — for a specified date, time, and location. By combining the positions of the Sun and Moon at the given moment and place, it derives a complete snapshot of the Vedic day, providing practitioners, astrologers, and developers with the foundational data needed for astrological analysis and muhurta (auspicious timing) determination.

What Data It Returns

  • Tithi — the lunar day number, name, deity, and completion percentage at the given moment

  • Vara — the Vedic weekday along with its ruling planet and general characteristics

  • Nakshatra — the lunar mansion (star) the Moon occupies, including its name, lord, and pada (quarter)

  • Yoga — the luni-solar yoga in effect, its name, ruling deity, and nature (auspicious or inauspicious)

  • Karana — the half-day unit currently active, its name, type (fixed or movable), and ruling deity

  • Sunrise and Sunset times — computed for the given location and date

  • Moonrise and Moonset times — computed for the given location and date

  • Ayanamsha value — the precession offset applied during calculation
